Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his initial championship for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former world number one, has experienced a torrid season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-time coach Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden trophy after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court from spring of 2023.

The win also signifies the Russian has secured 21 championships at twenty-one distinct events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters together, so to win a title is really nice," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the first title I got when my child her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.

His retrieving play style and frequent outbursts on court had led observers to doubt if his ability to play at the highest level was concluded.

But the athlete has made changes in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and compete positively, backed up by an enhanced service.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five games to go ahead.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first tour championship, seized the initiative to force a decider.

The opponent rescued four initial opportunities in a competitive third set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
